Cancellation & Refund Policy

This policy explains how subscription cancellations and refunds work for SMEE users. We aim to be fair and transparent in all our billing practices.

1. Subscription Plans Overview

SMEE offers the following subscription tiers:

Free Plan

$0/month

  • 1 staff member
  • Basic calendar

Plus Plan

$29/month

  • Unlimited staff
  • SMS notifications
  • Email reminders

Premium Plan

$79/month

  • Everything in Plus
  • Commission tracking
  • Priority support

2. How to Cancel Your Subscription

You can cancel your subscription at any time through one of these methods:

Self-Service Cancellation (Recommended)

  1. Log in to your SMEE account
  2. Go to Settings > Profile
  3. In the Subscription section, click "Cancel subscription"
  4. Confirm your cancellation

Billing Portal

You can also manage your subscription through our billing portal by clicking "Manage Subscription" in your account settings. This will redirect you to our payment provider (Stripe) where you can:

  • View your billing history
  • Update payment methods
  • Download invoices
  • Cancel or modify your subscription

If you need assistance cancelling, you can contact our support team at admin@withsmees.com and we'll process your request within 1-2 business days.

3. What Happens When You Cancel

Key Point

When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. You will not be charged again, and you'll retain full access to paid features until that date.

After cancellation:

  • Immediate: No future charges will be processed
  • Until billing period ends: Full access to all current plan features
  • After billing period ends: Account downgrades to Free plan
  • Your data: All your data remains intact and accessible

4. Downgrading Your Plan

If you want to switch to a lower tier plan instead of cancelling completely:

  • Click "Manage Subscription" or the "Downgrade" button in your settings
  • The change will take effect at the start of your next billing period
  • You'll keep access to your current plan features until then
  • If downgrading to Free, some features may become unavailable (e.g., staff limits)

5. Refund Policy

Monthly Subscriptions

Monthly subscriptions are generally non-refundable. When you cancel, you keep access until the end of your billing period but are not entitled to a prorated refund for unused time.

Annual Subscriptions

For annual subscriptions, we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee from the date of purchase. If you request a refund within 14 days:

  • You will receive a full refund
  • Your account will be downgraded to the Free plan immediately

After 14 days, annual subscriptions are non-refundable, but you can still cancel to prevent future renewals.

Exceptional Circumstances

We may consider refunds outside our standard policy in cases such as:

  • Service outages that significantly impact your business
  • Billing errors on our part
  • Duplicate charges
  • Unauthorized transactions

6. Refund Processing

When a refund is approved:

  • Refunds are processed through our payment provider (Stripe)
  • Refunds typically appear within 5-10 business days
  • The refund will be credited to the original payment method
  • You will receive an email confirmation when the refund is processed

7. Free Trial

If you signed up for a free trial:

  • You will not be charged during the trial period
  • You can cancel anytime before the trial ends to avoid charges
  • If you don't cancel, your subscription will automatically start at the end of the trial
  • We'll send a reminder email before your trial ends

8. Account Closure

If you wish to completely close your account (not just cancel your subscription):

  • First cancel any active subscription
  • Contact admin@withsmees.com to request account deletion
  • We will delete your account within 30 days
  • Your data will be permanently removed (this cannot be undone)
  • Some data may be retained as required by law (e.g., transaction records)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cancellation & Refund Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email. Changes will not affect subscriptions that were cancelled before the update.
